Bangkok | Suan Luam Night Bazaar
Rama 4 Rd, Lumpini, Pathumwan Bangkok 10330 - Lumpini MRT Station
Now this is a very curious place in the centre of Bangkok. At the simplest level, it’s a cut down version of Bangkok’s famous Chatachuk Weekend Market but it has the weirdest food court we seen so far. So picture the scene… The food area is vast with a big stage at the front.
On the stage is a parade of bad singers, doing very bad covers with bad dancers to boot. In addition to being terrible, the peformers also had to contend with the football being shown behind them on a giant screen. They really didn’t stand a chance from the start. The lowlight of the evening was definitely their cover of the Chili peppers ‘Give it away’!
It’s quite a confusing scene for the first time visitor. So here’s how it seemed to work. As soon as you enter, you will be stalked by the waitresses in impossibly short skirts until you choose a table. They will then pounce on you to take your order of drinks and food. Each waitress represents a particular beer brand and associated food menu. You can tell by their outfits which beer they are serving.
So you choose the waitress who has the beer branded outfit on that you want to drink and then order. She’ll run off and fetch it for you and attempt to sell you more throughout the evening, getting physical with the competing waitresses if neccessary! She will also have a food menu for table service, which is different for each beer brand but you can also go up to the stall you want and order directly. That said, there is a weird coupon currency exchange system. You have to buy coupons before ordering at any stall directly! Bloody confusing.
Definitely come here as it’s looney tunes eating and drinking fun!
